Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Lakers
On the other side of the deal, the Lakers are obviously doing everything they can to repeat as champions. They know their window isn’t terribly long. LeBron James isn’t getting any younger.
Acquiring Derrick Rose from the Pistons would be a step in the right direction. The Lakers do have talent in the back-court, but Rose would come in and be an immediate impact player.
Rose would add the ability to create his own shot and score the ball. He could do so coming off of the bench or in the starting lineup. No matter what role he would end up playing for the Lakers, he would give them another option.
Giving up Kuzma, a first-round pick, and a second-round pick seems like a steep price. But, in order to win championships, teams need to pay a price.
Los Angeles may not end up pursuing a trade for Rose. However, if they do, this one could make sense with the Pistons. It’s worth considering, at the very least.
