Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Celtics
Trading a star point guard may not be something that a lot of fans would love to see. Moving Kemba Walker after just losing Gordon Hayward would be a bold move. However, the Celtics would be getting back some important pieces in this trade.
Julius Randle would be a very nice addition for the Celtics at the power forward position. He averaged 19.5 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game. Those numbers are solid and would give Boston some help.
Jeff Teague was also just signed in free agency. He could start or Dennis Smith Jr. could get the nod. Just a few short years ago, Smith was considered an up-and-coming potential star, but those days went away when he was moved to the Knicks.
Danny Ainge may have zero interest in trading Walker. But, there were rumors that the Celtics were open to moving him earlier in the offseason.
If they are still open to the idea, this trade would make a lot of sense. They would bring in an upgrade at power forward, a young guard who could flourish with a coach like Brad Stevens, and two first-round picks. Boston would have to seriously consider this offer.
