Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Knicks

Let’s start off by taking a look at the deal for New York. Neither Julius Randle or Dennis Smith Jr. are going to fit with the Knicks long-term. Moving them in a deal that brings a star point guard in would be ideal.

Kemba Walker is a legitimate superstar. He has elite scoring potential and could very well end up luring another star to the Knicks.

If the Knicks are going to get back to being a legitimate contender in the Eastern Conference, they are going to need to swing big. This would be the definition of swinging big. Walker may not be available, but they should try.

Offering this kind of a haul to the Celtics would give them a good shot. Boston still might not take the deal, but it would make sense for both teams.

Even though Walker is not a star like Kevin Durant or Kyrie Irving, his presence would immediately make the Knicks a more attractive place to play. It would be the first step towards getting back to being a competitive franchise.
