Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics are at the top of the list of teams looking to improve their center position this offseason. They are used to running a three-man scheme at the position and this is the way they could be going. If the Celtics do not trade up in the draft, they could look to sign Whiteside.

Boston had three picks in the first round in the 2020 NBA Draft but didn’t manage to trade up to select a center prospect like James Wiseman or Onyeka Okongwu. This makes an option like Whiteside a logical one.

Daniel Theis and Robert Williams III played good minutes this season but they are rotational players. There is nothing that jumped out to make the Celtics believe that they are long term answers.

Whiteside would go a long way in competing against Adebayo in the Eastern Conference Finals. That is a battle that the Heat did not win this season in the bubble. This is a main reason why they will be looking to improve their center position.
