Grading the Trade for the Oklahoma City Thunder
The Oklahoma City Thunder have made it as clear as possible that primarily they are focused on rebuilding through the NBA Draft. Now, they have 17 upcoming selections in the 1st round at their disposal.
The 2021 NBA Draft is supposed to be much stronger than this year’s class. By tearing down the roster, the Thunder could put themselves in a real position to land a highly intriguing prospect to pair with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for the long-term.
With all of the NBA Draft selections the Thunder have accumulated using savvy trades, they will have the capability of being able to trade up for whoever they want when the time comes. However, not landing the No. 10 pick or one of the Suns’ recently drafted prospects is disappointing.
Landing Kelly Oubre Jr. and Ricky Rubio will not be nearly enough to keep the Thunder afloat in a loaded Western Conference— making it favorable for the rebuild. Oklahoma City will be able to flip both players at the upcoming trade deadline as well.
