Why the Trade Benefits the Indiana Pacers
The Indiana Pacers have no choice but to move Victor Oladipo. He is coming off a major injury and has just one year left on his contract. The emergence of TJ Warren and consistent play of Domantas Sabonis gives the Pacers a core moving forward.
Powell scored 16 points per game this season and shot 39.9% from three-point range. He is a talented offensive player and will continue to grow. McCaw has yet to breakout but at 25-years old, he is a bench piece that could be used to depth.
In a trade for Oladipo, this is a nice return to go along with a first-round pick. It is always better to trade the player rather than letting him walk in free agency.
The Pacers will have plenty of options but the return may not be huge from any certain team. They need to take what they can get and this is a strong option.
