Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Warriors
On the other hand, the Warriors know what they need to do this offseason. They need to go out and add some front-court help. It wouldn’t get much better than adding Blake Griffin, although James Wiseman would be an intriguing fit for Golden State with the No. 2 overall pick.
Griffin has struggled with injury issues in recent years. Last season with the Pistons, he was only able to play in 18 games. In those 18 games, Griffin averaged 15.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 3.3 assists.
Back in the 2018-19 season with Detroit, Griffin’s numbers looked much better. He averaged 24.5 points per game to go along with 7.5 rebounds and 5.4 assists. When he’s healthy, Griffin is still a superstar.
Moving the No. 2 overall pick would not be an easy thing to do. Golden State would get a very talented player with that pick. However, they would stay in the lottery with the No. 7 overall pick and could find a quality young player to add to their roster.
This trade would be a major win for the Warriors. Griffin would come in and immediately help them get back to being top-notch NBA Finals contenders. The ability to still snag a top young talent makes this trade a no-brainer.
