This Hawks-Timberwolves trade could change the NBA Draft substantially

Why the Trade Benefits the Atlanta Hawks

If the Atlanta Hawks are not too high on any of the NBA Draft prospects that are expected to be available by the time they are on the clock with the No. 6 pick, trading down to gain an asset appears to be the best option.

Sticking at No. 6 would offer a few intriguing options for the Hawks. However, they have selected plenty of prospects in recent years and need to see how their development progresses as a top priority.

Trading down in the 2020 NBA Draft would help the Hawks to still add an intriguing prospect while having to pay them less per season. There would be compensation with Jarrett Culver being included to get the deal done, too.

Taking a chance on a recently drafted player like Culver could be a worthwhile option for the Hawks. It mostly depends on their internal perception of his potential. If it’s a favorable view, that makes this potential deal all the more worthwhile.
