Why the Trade Benefits the Minnesota Timberwolves
When looking at the depth chart for the Minnesota Timberwolves, it is underwhelming. Outside of Karl-Anthony Towns and D’Angelo Russell, the team will struggle. Josh Okogie and Malik Beasley will turn into solid contributors, but they are not third options to rely on.
Ultimately, the Timberwolves could choose to keep the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, but they need a lot of help. This trade would land them Reddish and the No. 6 pick. That is two players for the price of one and in this draft class, it could be worth it.
At No. 6 in the NBA Draft, there will be guards like Killian Hayes available if the Timberwolves want to go that route. If they want a big man, they could opt for an Onyeka Okongwu. Minnesota is also thin down low after Towns with players like Naz Reid and Juan Hernangomez.
This trade for the Timberwolves would just give them a chance to land some more good players. Now, if they are shopping the pick, they could ask for more from other sources.
The Atlanta Hawks will definitely be interested though.
