Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Rockets
While this trade may not look like a win for the Rockets, it could very well end up being just that. The James Harden-Russell Westbrook duo was solid, but that duo isn’t going to win them a championship. Instead, Houston should be focusing on building solely around Harden with a strong supporting cast.
This trade would bring in a more than capable starting point guard in Eric Bledsoe from the Bucks. He averaged 14.9 points, 5.4 assists, and 4.6 rebounds per game last season. Those numbers are not shabby.
Also, the Rockets would be getting a much-needed big man in the middle who can stretch the floor in Brook Lopez. DJ Wilson is simply a throw-in who likely would not make much of an impact.
The No. 24 overall pick also could bring in a young role player for the Rockets. Even though this draft isn’t stacked with talent at the end of the first round and early in the second round, they could find a decent player.
Moving on from Westbrook would be a tough decision to make, but this trade could make sense. If the Rockets don’t feel they can win a championship with two similar dynamic scoring guards, moving on from Westbrook now for this kind of a role player trade package could make sense.
