The Los Angeles Lakers are the defending NBA champions, and Los Angeles will absolutely be in the running again next season. But the Lakers could create a monopoly on success by acquiring a superstar such as Giannis Antetokounmpo.
If the Bucks were willing to trade Antetokounmpo, the Lakers should be among the teams interested. That’s not to say Los Angeles can make the best offer — the Warriors and Heat, for example, can offer more.
But the Lakers could essentially offer up any asset other than LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
Where things could get tricky for the Lakers is the fact that multiple picks are already conveyed to the Pelicans, thanks to the Davis trade.
Still, though, the Lakers with LeBron are ultra-aggressive, and it’s safe to assume they’d make a call if Antetokounmpo becomes available.
