Why the New York Knicks Should Do It

From the New York Knicks’ perspective, it’s rather simple. If New York has the chance to land a face of the franchise type of player (presumably Ball) the Knicks should go all-in.

The Knicks need a new direction under Thom Thibodeau, and landing the No. 2 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft would be a great way to start.

This trade in particular comes down to how the Knicks view Robinson, versus their opinion of Ball and Edwards. Robinson has shown he has a great future ahead of him. He would be difficult to trade. But does he have the allure of Ball for a fan base that wants stars?

The Knicks could stand pat at No. 8, but they wouldn’t have the chance to make the same impact that they could at No. 2.
