Charlotte Hornets
For James Wiseman’s sake, his best-case scenario is that he doesn’t make it past Charlotte at No. 3 overall in the NBA Draft. Assuming Edwards and Ball go No. 1 and No. 2 in some order, Wiseman should be able to find a home in Charlotte at No. 3.
Charlotte needs a center who can come in and maintain the front court for the next half decade or more. We’ve written here in the past how the Hornets would be a fit for Myles Turner. Wiseman is a cheaper option and his relative youth fits better on the Hornets’ timeline for contention.
Charlotte can not afford to pass on Wiseman because he fits arguably their biggest need; a formidable center. Cody Zeller has manned the middle for years but just doesn’t provide much for a dynamic presence.
In the year of the pandemic for the NBA, there are no locks. No guarantees. Even the No. 1 pick could go multiple different ways. But if anything, Wiseman to Charlotte feels like a great match.
