Utah Jazz Receive: Blake Griffin
Detroit Pistons Receive: Mike Conley
This first swap sees the Utah Jazz and Detroit Pistons exchange veterans, as Blake Griffin is dealt for Mike Conley Jr.
After a heartfelt end to his time in Memphis, Conley Jr. struggled to find his way in Utah and he may need a change of scenery. That could go a long way in rehabilitating his trade value.
The main benefit for the Pistons is that Conley only has one-year remaining on his deal while Griffin has a player option worth just under $40 million in 2021-22.
The acquisition of Conley would give the Pistons options in their backcourt this offseason. Conley could play with Rose, but Rose himself is a common subject of trade speculation. Conley could fill in as Dwane Casey’s point guard if Rose is traded.
Griffin would team up with Gobert and Donovan Mitchell in Utah, as the Jazz try to avenge their playoff loss from 2020.
