New Orleans Pelicans Receive: CJ McCollum

Portland Trail Blazers Receive: Jrue Holiday, 2021 1st Round Pick

The New Orleans Pelicans are a bit limited in their options to take on CJ McCollum, but one of the ways would be to move Jrue Holiday, a guard with a similar salary to that of McCollum.

One of New Orleans’ other options would be to sign-and-trade Brandon Ingram, who is a restricted free agent this offseason. But Ingram, who was acquired in the trade for Anthony Davis from the Lakers, is just 23 and was the centerpiece of the Davis trade.

Briefly, on Ingram: If, for some reason, he wasn’t in New Orleans’ plans going forward, it would make sense to capitalize on his value and use him in a sign-and-trade. But at this point, it wouldn’t make a ton of sense for the Pelicans, so they hypothetically part with Holiday and a first round pick next season.
