This trade would send Karl-Anthony Towns to the Warriors

Why it makes sense for the Timberwolves

If nothing else, Karl-Anthony Towns is not happy in Minnesota. This is a team that is in a complete rebuild. While it does not seem smart to give up an elite big man, the experiment just has not worked. Towns has spent five years in Minnesota and has averaged 22.7 points and 11.8 rebounds over the course of his career.

Towns’ individual success has been strong since he entered the league. However, the team has not won and they have a ton of money wrapped up in Towns. This would offer some financial stability.

Also, Green is a veteran voice on the court and would be able to lead along with Russell. The main point is that Minnesota would get draft picks back. This would leave Minnesota with the top-two picks in the upcoming draft. Hopefully, they would fair better than they did when they picked fifth and sixth overall in 2009.

This deal would allow the Timberwolves to get some of their draft picks back along with Green. Also, Smailagic is a young talent who could progress with some more playing time.

Trading Towns away would officially enter into major rebuild territory, but it could be done quickly if they nail the draft picks.
