This Bulls-Rockets trade would send Russell Westbrook to Chicago

The Chicago Bulls hope to contend next season with new head coach Billy Donovan coming over from Oklahoma City. Donovan takes the helm of a Bulls team that won just 22 games last year, but the Bulls could make a big leap if they’re able to acquire a star such as the Russell Westbrook from the Houston Rockets.

Westbrook’s first year in Houston ended with the Rockets coming up short, and then huge changes took place in the aftermath.

First, Rockets coach Mike D’Antoni announced he would not return. Then GM Daryl Morey stepped down from his post, meaning the Rockets now need both a new coach and a new GM.

With a new coach, especially, could come a new philosophy. Under D’Antoni, the Rockets preferred small ball, but the next coach could come in and change that.

If Houston opts for big changes under its next regime, Westbrook would be a valuable trade chip to dangle in negotiations.

Let’s take a look at a hypothetical trade that would send Houston Rockets star Russell Westbrook to the Chicago Bulls.
