Why The Chicago Bulls Should Do It
The Chicago Bulls need a star if they’re going to make the leap from a lottery team to a contender.
Russell Westbrook fits the bill, and Chicago’s signing of Donovan could bode well for Westbrook’s hypothetical fit.
Donovan coached the Thunder from 2015 to 2020. Westbrook was the star point guard for four of those five seasons, before his trade to Houston in exchange for Chris Paul.
The familiarity that Donovan has with Westbrook could make him the ideal target for the Bulls, as Chicago aims for contention.
The Bulls would probably have to part with LaVine, who is still just 25. LaVine may be a tough asset to part with, but Westbrook is the more proven commodity who fits a win-now team.
