Los Angeles Lakers Receieve: Russell Westbrook
Houston Rockets Receive: Danny Green, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Javale McGee, Rajon Rondo
Kyle Kuzma is not in this deal. Alex Caruso is not. Even 19-year-old Talen Horton-Tucker would still be in town. No draft picks were given up. If this was 2016, this trade would be thrown in the garbage, but in 2020, the Lakers have some leverage.
This is not the Russell Westbrook of old. He is coming off of a season where he missed time with an injury. Also, Westbrook does not fit in with how Houston plays. They are a team that likes to shoot the ball from deep at a high rate. That is one of the reasons that this experiment has been a failure thus far.
This deal would work for both sides. The Rockets would get a nice return for Westbrook in the form of players that are ready to contribute immediately.
In Los Angeles, they would get their third superstar to complete the big three. Coming off a championship already, the Lakers would be favorites once again with Westbrook.
Once again, this deal would likely have to include some sign-and-trades to get it done. But, if the two sides want to work something out, they could figure out all of the necessary moves.
