Rationale for Golden State Warriors
The thought of the Golden State Warriors getting Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson back into their lineup is intriguing in itself. Now, imagine doing so while adding Kristaps Porzingis in a trade?
The fact that Porzingis averaged 7.1 attempts from beyond the arc last season shows just how robust the Warriors’ perimeter shooting capabilities would become by adding him into the mix. Alongside Curry and Thompson, Golden State would shoot the opposition out of the gym.
The free-flowing offensive system of the Warriors would open up no shortage of clean looks for Porzingis and would maximize his finishing ability. Additionally, he would benefit directly from playing off the short-roll playmaking of Draymond Green.
The Warriors would end up adding a rim protector that stands at 7-foot-3 with a 7-foot-6 wingspan alongside Green. That’s an intriguing possibility, especially when considering the Los Angeles Lakers just won an NBA title with Anthony Davis.
With the inclusion of Andrew Wiggins in this deal, the Warriors would need to find a replacement on the wing on the cheap. Using the MLE to bring back Glenn Robinson III is an example of something they could look to do.
Adding a sharpshooter in Seth Curry would be a helpful addition for any team. For the Warriors, they’d become a ridiculously talented perimeter shooting force by pairing the two Curry brothers with Thompson and Porzingis.
