Trade Idea from Grant Hughes of B/R
Miami Heat Receive: Derrick Rose
Detroit Pistons Receive: Andre Iguodala, Kelly Olynyk (opt-in), No. 20 pick
The logistics for this trade would be quite simple for the Miami Heat when considering all they’d be adding in salary is the $7.7 million that Derrick Rose is set to make next season.
It’s a bit more complicated for the Detroit Pistons. Assuming that Kelly Olynyk were to opt-in for the $12.2 million player option he has the option of picking up for next season, there would be $27.2 million in salary headed to the Motor City.
There would be no long-term impact for either team involved in this trade when considering Iguodala has a team-option after next season and both Rose and Olynyk have expiring deals.
The salary the Pistons would have to hand out to the No. 20 pick if they were to keep the selection would be under $2.3 million. Overall, that would mean $29.5 million in additional salary for Detroit.
