The Miami Heat and Detroit Pistons are two teams that are in very different situations. While Jimmy Butler is keeping the Heat alive in the NBA Finals, the Pistons still are looking to find their back to the playoffs. Could a trade involving Derrick Rose make sense for both teams?
The Pistons could try to make a push for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference next season, but it won’t be easy. The most benificial route to go long-term would be for Detroit to undergo a full rebuild— requiring moving Rose to a contender.
It will be fascinating to see which route the Pistons decide to take when considering each franchise has lost considerable revenue opportunities due to not having fans at games. Moving on from players that will soon need contract extensions like Rose could be a potential consequence.
One team that will be looking to improve its roster as much as possible without taking on major long-term salary is the Heat. A trade target like Rose would not require substantial compensation and wouldn’t hurt their financial flexibility for next offseason.
With that being said, let’s take a look at a trade that would send Derrick Rose from the Detroit Pistons to the Miami Heat— pairing him up with Jimmy Butler.
