Russell Westbrook, Houston Rockets

The locale of Russell Westbrook’s career changed for the first time prior to this season, with his trade from the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Houston Rockets. But for Westbrook, his goal remained the same: Advance to, and ultimately win, the NBA Finals.

Unfortunately for the Rockets, change could be on the horizon again. Houston is in the market for a new head coach after Mike D’Antoni informed the franchise earlier this month he would not return.

While Westbrook reunited with his former Thunder teammate, James Harden, in Houston, the results for the Rockets were still underwhelming. This seemingly has become a trend of disappointing playoff performance for the Rockets, and a change of scenery could help both parties.

For the Heat, bringing in Westbrook would pair Butler with an experienced, explosive athlete who is battle-tested. Depending on the terms of the trade, Miami should still have enough perimeter shooting around Westbrook to ensure he wouldn’t have to shoulder all of the offensive load himself.
