The best trade the Bucks could offer for Chris Paul

Chris Paul, Thunder, Pacers

The Trade:

Bucks Receive: Chris Paul

Thunder Receive: George Hill, Eric Bledsoe, Donte DiVincenzo, D.J. Wilson, 2020 First-Round Pick via Indiana, 2022 Second-Round Pick via Indiana, 2023 First Round Pick

Wow. Let’s just take a minute to digest that offer. The Thunder would have a very hard time saying no to this haul from the Bucks.

There is a very good chance that the Thunder would say yes, but should the Bucks give up this much for a 35-year-old point guard? That is a question that will be answered only if it help keep Giannis Antetokounmpo in town.

If the Greek Freak actually told the Bucks that he wants to play with Paul, then this deal is worth making. Paul is capable of being a legitimate star for at least another year or two. However, his contract has one more guaranteed year on it and then a player option for the 2021-22 season.

Milwaukee would absolutely improve with this trade. A big three of Antetokounmpo, Paul, and Khris Middleton would be a major improvement.

For the Thunder, this deal is a no-brainer. Getting two first-round picks, a second-round pick, and a ton of depth at the guard position that could be kept or flipped would make a lot of sense.

Paul is likely going to be moved this offseason. It wouldn’t make a ton of sense for the Thunder to hold onto him for another year. The Bucks should absolutely be aggressive this offseason if they want to avoid losing Antetokounmpo to greener pastures next offseason.

Expect to hear ongoing rumors about Chris Paul and the Bucks this offseason. It’s a match made in heaven, but Milwaukee will have to decide if it’s worth the price.
