Warriors coach Steve Kerr shares intriguing update on Klay Thompson’s recovery

The Golden State Warriors were without both Stephen Curry for most of this season while Klay Thompson was sidelined for its entirety. Both players will be back in the team’s lineup next time they take the court.

For Thompson, he has been recovering from a torn ACL injury that he suffered during the NBA Finals last year. His recovery has been going well and the next step for him is participating in 5-on-5 action.

During a recent interview with Anthony Slater of The Athletic. Kerr shared what he’s seen from Thompson and made it clear the sharpshooter ‘looks fantastic.’

“Yeah, it’s been awhile for him,” Kerr said. “But I have seen him a couple times this summer in Orange County, watched him work out and he’s doing great. He really looks fantastic. So I’m not too worried about Klay. Playing 5-on-5 is the next logical step for him.”

The Warriors will be a much different looking team by the time Thompson takes the court for the first time since his injury. No longer is Kevin Durant a member of the roster and Thompson didn’t even log a second of time with D’Angelo Russell on the court.

Next season, the Warriors will feature the iconic Curry-Thompson backcourt along with Draymond Green in the frontcourt. Now, Andrew Wiggins is in the mix and Golden State has the No. 2 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft to work with as well.

The landscape of the Western Conference will be fascinating to track next season. Both the Clippers and Lakers have each formed superstar duos since the Warriors were last with all of their stars.
