The Trade
Nets Receive: Blake Griffin
Pistons Receive: Taurean Prince, Garrett Temple, and Spencer Dinwiddie
One intriguing trade for both teams would be the above swap. While the Pistons wouldn’t be getting a ton in return, they would be getting a very talented guard in Dinwiddie and would also be unloading quite a bit of money from moving Griffin.
Dinwiddie is a very intriguing piece and would fit nicely with the Pistons. He played in 64 games with the Nets this season, averaging 20.6 points per game to go along with 6.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds. In addition to those numbers, he shot 41.5 percent from the field and 30.8 percent from the three-point line.
On the other side of things, the Nets would be loading up with star talent. Durant will be back on the court next season and Irving will focus on getting healthy. Adding Griffin to that star duo would be lethal.
Adding Prince and Temple in this trade would give the Pistons some quality depth. It’s nothing special, but it’s pieces that they can use in the meantime and then free up money later on to spend elsewhere.
Detroit simply isn’t in a position to compete now or anytime in the near future. The Nets, are absolutely in a position to compete.
It will be interesting to see what the Pistons end up doing with Griffin this offseason. Moving him would make a lot of sense and Griffin himself would likely enjoy a move to the Nets.
Expect to hear quite a few rumors surrounding the Nets this offseason. They have been connected to Victor Oladipo already and pursuing Blake Griffin would make sense as well. The Pistons and Nets coming together on a deal could be exactly what both sides need.
