
There’s been speculation over the course of this year that Anthony Davis could leave the Los Angeles Lakers after just one season. He has a player option this summer worth $28.7 million that he is expected to decline. Chances are, Davis will re-sign with LA because frankly, it’s his best shot at a title with LeBron James alongside him.
After selling one of his LA homes, many people assumed that was a sign that he was on his way out, but it was mainly because Davis wanted to stay in a place closer to the Lakers’ training facility so it wasn’t such a long commute each day.
The Lakers have been one of the best teams in the NBA this season, emerging as a heavy favorite out of the West to contend with the Bucks in a possible NBA Finals matchup before the campaign was postponed due to coronavirus. The addition of Davis to Frank Vogel’s team has proven to be extremely worthy, currently leading Los Angeles in scoring with 26.7 points per night.
James and Davis form arguably the most impactful duo in the league and although James is in his 18th season, there’s still a lot left in the tank in order to bring a championship back to the franchise. However, without Davis, it simply won’t happen.
