2. There Are Areas to Address
There is a clear need for the Orlando Magic to improve their offensive efficiency. They are producing just 0.943 PPP (25th) so far this season and the fact that they are in the playoff picture despite that is a true testament to their defense.
It’s difficult to field an effective offense when a team lacks reliable spot-up shooting results. That’s especially the case for the Magic given that they produce just 0.883 PPP (30th) in spot-up sequences.
Adding more spot-up shooting in addition to Evan Fournier (1.233 PPP, 92nd percentile) and D.J. Augustin (1.109 PPP, 73rd percentile) would help. Aside from Terrance Ross, the rest of the team has an output below 0.9 PPP.
It’s fascinating to think about the possibilities for the Magic if they were to add shooting to their team. More floor spacing could greater maximize their output in other areas, too.
