X-Factor #1: Which Jabari Parker Will Show Up?

The Bulls made a bit of a splash in free agency when they signed Jabari Parker to a two year, $40 million contract. Parker spent the first four years of his career on the Milwaukee Bucks, but the Chicago native chose to sign with his hometown team. Parker possesses a lot of talent and potential, much of the reason he was selected with the second overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. Unfortunately, his career has been marred by injury. Parker has already suffered two ACL tears, a harrowing diagnosis for a young player. Had he been able to remain healthy over the course of his career so far, he likely would have earned a more lucrative contract in free agency.

When he is on the court, Parker has shown flashes of brilliance, often reminiscent of the player he was in his excellent freshman season at Duke. Scoring has been Parker’s best attribute, and he is a career 15.3 points per game scorer. He has managed to improve his three-point shooting every year that he’s been in the league, nearly shooting 40% from three last season. His defense can often leave something to be desired, but when healthy, Parker is a very impressive player.

For the Bulls, Parker’s injury history should give them concern. But if he can stay healthy, expect him to thrive on his hometown team.
