New Orleans Pelicans: 4 Reasons Why Anthony Davis Could Win MVP

His Basic Stats Will Fill Be Crazy

Okay, so this one should be obvious at this point. Davis has averaged a double-double every season besides his rookie year. Last season, he averaged 28.1 points along with 11.1 rebounds per game. As we stated before, his scoring average will increase and, even if his rebound numbers stay exactly the same as last year, he’ll make a fantastic case for winning MVP.

With Boogie in Golden State, how could he not? There’s no other comparable big on this team, which means Davis reverts to his role in 2016-17. He’s back to being the only frontcourt player on the team with 20-and-10 potential and he’ll live up to it without a doubt.

Last year, Davis received his first All-Defensive First Team honor, thanks in no small part to his league-leading 2.6 blocks per game. The man is a menace in the paint, making his counterparts look silly inside and forcing guards to think twice about driving to the rack.

Don’t expect anything less than 2.6 blocks per game this season. Anthony Davis has become one of the best interior defenders in the league and he’ll continue to prove that. Considering how fantastic of a defender he’s become — hello, first team All-Defense — Davis will carry the Pelicans on that end of the floor and once again lead the league in blocks.
