4. San Antonio Spurs
Vegas Win Projection: 43.5
My Win Projection: 48
This one also made no sense to me. In 2017-18 the Spurs won 47 games with Kawhi Leonard playing 9 injury riddled games. I repeat, they almost won 50 games without their best player. They then add Demar DeRozan who is coming a career year and made the All-NBA Second Team last season.
They also picked up Lonnie Walker IV in the draft who balled out in the Summer League and someone I was high on going into the draft. They got rid of dead weight in Tony Parker, a declining Danny Green and Kyle Anderson who was too expensive to re-sign based on output.
Not to mention that star power forward LaMarcus Aldridge was also a second-team All-NBA member last season and put up more points, rebounds, and assists than he had in the three previous seasons in 17-18. With this win projection, Vegas has the Spurs missing out on the playoffs. Yes, the West is tough but 43.5 wins?!
Is Vegas disregarding the fact that Gregg Popovich is still the coach in S.A. and now has two All-Star’s at his disposal? I saw this line and my eyes popped. I immediately threw the mortgage, the dog, and the banana stand down because this one is easy money if everyone stays healthy.
