Boston Needs to Begin Preparing for Life After Kyrie

Kyrie Irving is without question one of the top point guards in the NBA and is crucial for Boston heading into the 2018-19 NBA season. He was immediately called the face of the Celtics’ franchise after being acquired last season in a trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Now, it appears that his future in Boston could be murky.

Throughout the course of the 24.4 points per game to go along with 5.1 assists and 3.8 rebounds. He shot 49.1 percent from the field overall and knocked down 40.8 percent of his three-point attempts.

As good as he was for the Celtics last season, it appears that he could be on his way out of town. Many reports and rumors have come out this offseason to say that Irving will leave in free agency next offseason. New York has been talked about as a potential landing spot, but there have been other reports that have stated he could remain in Boston.

No matter what Irving ends up doing, the Celtics need to prepare for the worst. Terry Rozier is capable of being a starting point guard and Boston needs to continue giving him big minutes this season to keep him happy.
