NBA Legend Doesn’t Hold Back About The Denver Nuggets

Earlier this week, the Denver Nuggets hosted the Minnesota Timberwolves in a game that would have major implications for the NBA playoffs. Whoever won that matchup would take over first place in the Western Conference and have the inside track to homecourt advantage throughout the postseason.

It was the Nuggets who came away victorious, winning 116-107. They now have a one-game lead over the Timberwolves and the Oklahoma City Thunder, their Northwest Division rivals who are also atop the conference.

While anything can happen in the final days of the NBA regular season, it is hard to envision the Nuggets surrendering that lead. The schedule is certainly in their favor as the final two games are against the San Antonio Spurs and Memphis Grizzlies.

Both games being on the road would normally give people some pause, but it would be shocking to see Denver lose to either team. Both have been eliminated from playoff contention and have nothing to play for, while the Nuggets need wins to stay in first place.

NBA NEWS & SCORES: Paul Pierce, 2024 NBA Playoffs, Denver Nuggets Updates

Locking down the No. 1 seed would be huge for the Nuggets, as the NBA Playoffs would then go through Denver in the Western Conference. If that occurs, one NBA legend believes they would be a lock to advance to the NBA Finals.

While making an appearance on UNDISPUTED on FS1, Paul Pierce made a bold claim about the Nuggets’ postseason chances. He pointed out how dominant they have been at home this season and believes they are a “Gorilla Glue lock” to represent the Western Conference in the NBA Finals.

While the Western Conference is as deep and talented as ever, the Nuggets do seem to have a leg up on the competition. They have consistently been near the top of the standings this season, as soon-to-be three-time MVP Nikola Jokic has been leading the way.

Looking to repeat as NBA Champions, the Nuggets certainly have a good chance at doing so. As Pierce pointed out, it is hard to see a team being able to knock them off at home while then protecting their home court three times in a series.
