NBA insider Shams Charania, reporting for The Athletic and Stadium, suggests that Los Angeles Lakers’ guard Gabe Vincent may soon make a comeback to the team’s lineup.
Vincent has seen limited action this season, appearing in just five games due to undergoing left knee surgery in December.
Last offseason, the Lakers secured Vincent with a three-year, $33 million contract during free agency. Initially, Vincent participated in the first four games of the season before being sidelined for 23 consecutive games. His return to the court on December 20 against the Chicago Bulls was brief, as he registered three points while shooting 1-of-4 from the field before experiencing discomfort and soreness in his knee, ultimately leading to surgery.
The 27-year-old guard has posted averages of 5.4 points, 1.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists this season, with shooting percentages at 37.5% from the field, 11.8% from beyond the arc, and 50.0% from the foul line.
Throughout his career, spanning stints with the Miami Heat and Lakers, Vincent has maintained averages of 7.6 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists. His current salary stands at $10.5 million for this season.
With a current record of 34-29, the Lakers find themselves in ninth place in the Western Conference standings. Despite inactivity during this year’s trade deadline, general manager Rob Pelinka secured Spencer Dinwiddie through the buyout market.
In terms of performance, the Los Angeles Lakers rank 12th in the NBA for points per game and 20th in points allowed per game.
