Orlando Magic forward Jonathan Isaac recently humorously suggested on social media that he might sport a pair of Donald Trump’s newly released sneakers in an upcoming NBA game.
These sneakers, dubbed the Never Surrender High-Top Sneakers, are being sold online for $399 a pair. Isaac, who has been with the Magic since being selected as the No. 6 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, has previously made news for his political stances, notably when he chose to stand during the national anthem in 2020 while many other NBA players kneeled in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement.
In a interview in 2023 with Riley Gaines for OutKick, Isaac shared a polarizing opinion about not kneeling during that period, expressing his desire to propose an alternative approach to addressing the issues at hand. He acknowledged the gravity of George Floyd’s death but also mentioned his discomfort with the messaging and approach of the Black Lives Matter organization and movement.
