Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr has finalized a record-breaking contract extension. Under the new two-year deal, valued at $35 million, Kerr becomes the NBA’s highest-paid coach, according to ESPN.
Previously set to conclude with this season, Kerr’s enhanced contract, at $17.5 million annually, now extends his tenure through the 2025-26 season.
While Gregg Popovich of the San Antonio Spurs earns more each year, holding both president and coaching roles, Kerr surpasses Miami Heat’s Erik Spoelstra, who has an eight-year extension averaging $15 million annually.
This extension marks the culmination of extensive negotiations between Warriors General Manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. and Kerr’s agents at Priority Sports, ensuring Kerr remains a vital part of the Warriors.
