According to NBA reporter Ian Begley of SNY, Spencer Dinwiddie sat behind the Dallas Mavericks’ bench against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden tonight.

Dinwiddie is interested in signing with the Mavericks. The veteran is a free agent after getting waived by the Toronto Raptors.

The Los Angeles Lakers and Mavericks are the teams Dinwiddie is expected to pick between.

Dinwiddie was born and raised in Los Angeles and played for the Mavericks before. It will be very fascinating to see which team the Colorado product signs with.

Dinwiddie is averaging 12.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.2 blocks this season while shooting 39.1% from the field, 32.0% from beyond the arc and 78.1% from the free-throw line. He was traded by the Brooklyn Nets to the Raptors for Dennis Schroder.

Dinwiddie holds career averages of 13.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.3 blocks with the Detroit Pistons, Nets, Washington Wizards and Mavericks. He helped Dallas make the Western Conference Finals in 2022.

Along with the Mavericks and Lakers, Dinwiddie has been linked to the New Orleans Pelicans and Philadelphia 76ers. However, most people around the NBA believe the 30-year-old will sign with Dallas or Los Angeles.

The Mavericks, led by Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, are in eighth place in the Western Conference standings. Meanwhile, the Lakers — led by LeBron James and Anthony Davis — are in ninth place. Both clubs would be in the play-in tournament if the season ended today.
