Report: Raptors Waive Spencer Dinwiddie, Lakers, Mavericks, Pelicans, 76ers Could Sign Him

According to NBA insider Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, the Toronto Raptors have waived Spencer Dinwiddie. Dan Woike of The Los Angeles Times is reporting that the Los Angeles Lakers could sign the former Brooklyn Nets guard.

Dinwiddie was born and raised in Los Angeles. Lakers legend Kobe Bryant was his idol growing up. It wouldn’t be a surprise at all to see the Lakers sign Dinwiddie.

Along with the Lakers, Dinwiddie will draw interest from the Dallas Mavericks, New Orleans Pelicans and Philadelphia 76ers.

A Colorado product, Dinwiddie is averaging 12.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.2 blocks this season while shooting 39.1% from the field, 32.0% from beyond the arc and 78.1% from the free-throw line.

The Lakers are 27-25 on the season. They are in ninth place in the Western Conference standings. Dinwiddie put up 19 points and four assists against the Lakers on January 19 while shooting 5-of-11 overall, 4-of-8 from 3 and 5-of-5 from the foul line. The Nets won by 18 points in LA.

The Sixers are in fifth place in the East, the Mavericks are in eighth place in the West and the Pelicans are in fifth place in the West.
