Report: Lakers Expected To Sign Spencer Dinwiddie

According to NBA insider Dave McMenamin of ESPN, the Los Angeles Lakers are expected to sign Spencer Dinwiddie.

The Brooklyn Nets traded Dinwiddie to the Toronto Raptors, who waived the Colorado product.

Dinwiddie was born and raised in Los Angeles. Lakers icon Kobe Bryant was his idol growing up.

Along with the Lakers, Dinwiddie will draw interest from the Dallas Mavericks, New Orleans Pelicans and Philadelphia 76ers. The veteran has played for the Mavericks before.

Dinwiddie is averaging 12.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.2 blocks this season while shooting 39.1% from the field, 32.0% from beyond the arc and 78.1% from the free-throw line. He has career averages of 13.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.3 blocks with the Detroit Pistons, Nets, Washington Wizards and Mavericks.

The Lakers are 27-25 on the season. They are in ninth place in the Western Conference standings. If the season ended today, LAL would be in the play-in tournament for the second consecutive year.

Dinwiddie put up 19 points and four assists against the Lakers on January 19 while shooting 5-of-11 overall, 4-of-8 from 3 and 5-of-5 from the foul line. The Nets won by 18 points in LA.

The Lakers didn’t make any trades at the trade deadline. They were linked to Dejounte Murray, Bruce Brown, Dorian Finney-Smith, Royce O’Neale and Andre Drummond.
