New York Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson has had quite a few memorable moments throughout his NBA career. February 1st, 2024 against the Indiana Pacers was yet another one that he will cherish forever.

That night he was named to the NBA All-Star Game for the first time in his career. Many people believe he deserved a starting spot on the team, but just being selected is an honor in itself. He and Julius Randle were both named All-Stars, as Randle made the team for the third time in four seasons.

Randle won’t be partaking in the game as he is recovering from a separated shoulder, but it is a wonderful honor to receive. He and Brunson are the first Knicks’ teammates to make the All-Star game since 2013 when Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler were both selected.

Without Randle in the lineup, the Knicks have been relying on Brunson to carry the load for the team. The load was even heavier on Thursday, as New York was also without OG Anunoby and Quentin Grimes. That left New York short-handed, but their All-Star point guard came up big when he was needed most.

Brunson scored 40 points on 50 percent shooting, willing the Knicks to a 109-105 victory. He overcame a very slow start and a blow to the face with two minutes remaining in the game to help his team win their ninth straight game.

In the process, he made some Knicks history as well. The game against the Pacers’ was Brunson’s 15th in 2024. He has finished with a positive plus/minus in each game, which is the longest streak in franchise history.

He broke the tie with OG Anunoby, who is currently riding a 14-game streak with a positive plus/minus, as he has been positive in every game of his Knicks tenure. But, he has missed three straight games with inflammation in his elbow.

During that 15-game stretch, Brunson’s cumulative plus/minus is +260. That is also a Knicks record, as no one has had a plus/minus that high in any 15-game span in the team’s history.

The stretch Brunson and the Knicks are currently on is a very impressive one. This group has something special brewing, as guys are stepping up each and every night, picking each other up and winning basketball games.

Only a half-game behind the Milwaukee Bucks for second place in the Eastern Conference, the Knicks are flying high. There isn’t a hotter team in the NBA right now, as New York continues to win despite missing key players from their rotation.
