Injuries have plagued Brooklyn Nets’ point guard Ben Simmons throughout his NBA career. This time it was yet another back injury that derailed what was a strong start, as he was healthy entering a season for the first time in years.

Simmons played in the first five games of the season and six out of the first seven before being sidelined again. He would miss 38 consecutive games because of the back injury before returning to the court on January 29th against the Utah Jazz.

He was excellent, nearly recording a triple-double with 10 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds. Simmons added one steal and one block in 18 minutes of play for as successful of a debut as anyone could have asked for.

On top of his individual performance, the Nets defeated the Utah Jazz by 33, 147-114. Unfortunately for Simmons, he didn’t escape the game unscathed as he is now dealing with another injury.

According to Tim Bontemps of ESPN, Simmons is dealing with a knee contusion. He appeared to tweak his knee on Monday when he fell awkwardly and is now being listed as questionable for tonight’s game against the Phoenix Suns.

Simmons just cannot catch a break when it comes to injuries. Just as he is healed and able to return from one issue, another one crops up. If there is any positive to take away from this, it is that he avoided any setbacks with his back.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Ben Simmons & Brooklyn Nets Updates

Dealing with another injury is certainly frustrating, but there has been nothing negative reported about his back, which is a win. This knee ailment at least sounds to be minor, but when it comes to Simmons’ health, nothing is going to be taken lightly.

With the Nets’ next game not being until Saturday, it would not be surprising if they exercise extreme caution with Simmons. They aren’t going to push him to play unless he is 100 percent healthy as there is nothing to gain if the possibility of making the injury worse exists.
