According to NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Dallas Mavericks could have trade interest in Golden State Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins.
The Warriors could move Wiggins before the February 8 trade deadline and the Mavericks are looking for swingman help.
“Rival executives and Bobby Marks, who previously joined me on the HoopsHype podcast, agreed that Andrew Wiggins is a trade candidate they’re monitoring with the Warriors,” Scotto said on his NBA podcast. “I tried to brainstorm who could make sense. I heard Dallas has always liked him, and they’re looking to upgrade at the three.”
Wiggins is averaging 12.0 points (career-low), 4.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.3 steals and 0.4 blocks this season while shooting 42.7% from the field, 29.5% from beyond the arc and 70.0% from the free-throw line. He’s making $24.3 million.

The Warriors are 19-23 on the season. They are in 12th place in the Western Conference standings. Meanwhile, the Mavericks are 24-20. They are in eighth place in the West.
Wiggins signed a four-year, $109 million extension with the Warriors in October 2022 after helping the Dubs win the 2022 NBA championship over the Boston Celtics in six games. For whatever reason, Wiggins has struggled to shoot and score the ball this season.
Wiggins played in only 37 games last season due to a personal matter with his family. He averaged 17.1 points in the regular season and 16.7 points in the playoffs. The Warriors lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2023 Western Conference Semifinals.
This season has been a nightmare for Wiggins, who may need a fresh start somewhere else. The one-time All-Star is too talented of a scorer to be averaging only 12.0 points.

Wiggins has career averages of 18.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.7 blocks with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Warriors. He was the first overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft out of Kansas.
