Tyler Herro Reacts To Heat Trading Kyle Lowry For Terry Rozier

The Miami Heat traded Kyle Lowry to the Charlotte Hornets for Terry Rozier and Tyler Herro is excited about the trade.

The Heat are 24-19 on the season. They are in sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings. Rozier is younger and faster than Lowry, so Miami’s pace will improve. The team is 29th in the NBA in pace. Pace factor is an estimate of the number of possessions per 48 minutes by a team.

Rozier is averaging 23.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, 6.6 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.4 blocks this season while shooting 45.9% from the field, 35.8% from beyond the arc and 84.5% from the free-throw line. He’s making $23.2 million.

Rozier signed a four-year, $96.3 million extension with the Hornets in August 2021. The former Boston Celtics guard will make $24.9 million next season.

The Heat are expected to start Rozier, Herro, Jimmy Butler, Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Bam Adebayo. Rozier, 29, has career averages of 14.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.2 blocks with the Celtics and Hornets. He was the 16th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft out of Louisville.

Lowry finished his Heat career with averages of 11.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.3 blocks in 155 games. The NBA champion is not expected to remain with the Hornets, who are in rebuild mode.

Herro is averaging 22.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.1 blocks this season while shooting 43.5% overall, 40.1% from 3 and 84.8% from the foul line. It will be fascinating to see how Rozier and Herro play together in the Heat’s backcourt.
