One NBA writer is proposing that the New York Knicks acquire Malcolm Brogdon from the Portland Trail Blazers.

Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Knicks and Blazers:

The Portland Trail Blazers trade Malcolm Brogdon to the New York Knicks for Evan Fournier, a 2024 first-round pick (top-12-protected, via WAS) and a 2024 second-round pick (via UTA or CLE)

The Knicks already made a big trade this season, sending RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley to the Toronto Raptors for OG Anunoby, Malachi Flynn and Precious Achiuwa. Buckley thinks Brogdon would fit in nicely with New York since “he’s an offensive asset on or off the ball.”

“The Knicks lost both backcourt depth and shot-creation in the Anunoby deal, but they’d strengthen both areas in this swap,” Buckley wrote in his NBA trade proposal. “Brogdon could fit with any of their guards, since he can handle either backcourt spot on both ends, and he’s an offensive asset on or off the ball.”

The Knicks could start Jalen Brunson, Brogdon, Anunoby, Julius Randle and Isaiah Hartenstein if New York’s front office made this trade.

Brogdon is averaging 15.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.1 blocks this season while shooting 43.8% from the field, 41.3% from beyond the arc and 77.6% from the free-throw line. He’s making $22.5 million.

The Knicks are 21-15. They are in eighth place in the Eastern Conference standings. Since the Blazers are in 14th place in the West, many people around the NBA expect Portland to trade Brogdon before the trade deadline in February.
