One NBA writer is proposing that the Atlanta Hawks acquire Tyler Herro from the Miami Heat and D’Angelo Russell from the Los Angeles Lakers.
Ishaan Bhattacharya of Fadeaway World proposed the following trade idea between the Hawks, Heat and Lakers:
Atlanta Hawks Receive: Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson, D’Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura, Nikola Jovic, 2028 First-Round Pick (MIA), 2029 First-Round Pick (LAL), 2030 First-Round Pick (MIA)
Los Angeles Lakers Receive: Dejounte Murray, Bogdan Bogdanovic
Miami Heat Receive: Trae Young
The Hawks would enter rebuild mode if this trade proposal happened. Head coach Quin Snyder could start Russell, Herro, Saddiq Bey, Jalen Johnson and Onyeka Okongwu. That would be a young but talented starting lineup filled with a lot of upside.
Russell is averaging 14.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 6.1 assists for the Lakers this season while shooting 46.6% from the field, 38.8% from beyond the arc and 77.3% from the free-throw line. The one-time All-Star is widely expected to be traded this season, sources told NBA Analysis Network. Russell is making $17.3 million.

Meanwhile, Herro is averaging 23.3 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.4 assists for the Heat while shooting 44.9% overall, 42.9% from 3 and 88.0% from the foul line. The 23-year-old is making $27 million.
The Hawks are 14-19 on the season. They are in 10th place in the Eastern Conference standings. Even though Young and Murray are two of the best guards in the NBA, Atlanta has been a mediocre team since acquiring Murray from the San Antonio Spurs. The franchise is better off retooling and acquiring a young star in Herro and a quality player in Russell, whose contract makes it easy to move him later.
