The Cleveland Cavaliers have no intention of trading Donovan Mitchell this season, according to NBA insider Zach Lowe of ESPN.

Mitchell, one of the best scorers in the NBA, has been linked to the New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets and Miami Heat. However, the Cavaliers are committed to keeping the All-Star guard unless he requests a trade.

“And I continue to hear that Cleveland, which has done a decent job sort of staying afloat without Evan Mobley and Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell in some recent games, just doesn’t want to entertain the notion of trading Donovan Mitchell,” Lowe said on his podcast. “That changes in one phone call from Donovan Mitchell’s representation or agent or whatever, but like as of now, I think the Cavs have done pretty well gutting it out.”

Mitchell is making $32.6 million this season. He will make $34.8 million next season and has a player option worth $37.1 million for the 2025-26 season.

Back on December 17, Mitchell cut off Joe Vardon‘s question about his future. Vardon is a reporter for The Athletic.

“My job is to focus on this,” Mitchell said. “We have two guys that are out, so I’m not answering anything. And no disrespect. I appreciate that you have to ask the question, but I’m not going there with any of those questions. My focus is on these guys being out, us trying to find a way to get wins.”
