The Cleveland Cavaliers have shown no inclination to discuss a Donovan Mitchell trade at this point, according to NBA insider Zach Lowe of ESPN.
Mitchell has been linked to the New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets and Miami Heat, but it sounds like the Cavaliers are committed to keeping the All-Star guard unless he requests a trade.
“A megadeal for Donovan Mitchell would help on both timelines, but the Cleveland Cavaliers — just one game behind the Knicks — have shown no inclination to discuss Mitchell trades at this point, per league sources,” Lowe wrote. “That might not change unless Mitchell expresses some imminent unhappiness in Cleveland.”
Mitchell has a player option worth $37 million for the 2025-26 season. He has already said that he won’t sign an extension with the Cavaliers this year.

Cleveland is 16-13 on the season. Mitchell is averaging 27.7 points, 5.6 rebounds and 5.5 assists while shooting 45.3% from the field, 35.1% from beyond the arc and 88.7% from the free-throw line. The former Utah Jazz star knows everyone wants to talk about his future, but he’s not focused on that.
“My job is to focus on this,” Mitchell said, via NBA reporter Joe Vardon of The Athletic. “We have two guys that are out, so I’m not answering anything. And no disrespect. I appreciate that you have to ask the question, but I’m not going there with any of those questions. My focus is on these guys being out, us trying to find a way to get wins.”
