NBA champion Rasheed Wallace is blaming himself and the 2004 Detroit Pistons for how Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green acts.

Green has acted out many times with the Warriors. From getting suspended in the 2016 Finals to punching Jordan Poole last season, Green has had his fair share of bad moments.

This season has been no different for Green. He put Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert in a headlock and was suspended by the NBA for five games. Wallace, who is first in NBA history in ejections, says Green’s bully mentality came from watching the Pistons.

“He grew up in our locker room,” Wallace said about Green. “One of his best friends was the son of the GM, so he was around us. Practice, in the locker room, after games, before games, so he heard the different language, and we all know it’s a different language when the cameras is not there. He heard all that. That’s why he’s doing the bully s— he doing now, in my opinion. He caught all that s— in our locker room.”

In his first public comments since putting Gobert in a headlock, Green said he had no regrets about what he did. That’s part of the issue with Green. He never seems to take responsibility for his negative actions.

“I don’t live my life with regrets,” Green said. “I’ll come to a teammate’s defense any time that I’m in a position to come to a teammate’s defense. … What matters to me is how the people that I care about feel, first and foremost. How are the people that I care about affected? How are the people I care about, what do they have to deal with? That’s it for me.”

According to Kendra Andrews of ESPN, the Warriors will back Green no matter what he does. However, another team source told ESPN that the Warriors lost leverage on disciplining Green after failing to hold him accountable for punching Poole last season.
