The Los Angeles Lakers got destroyed by the Philadelphia 76ers by 44 points on November 27. It was such a brutal loss that Anthony Davis thinks an honest film session could do wonders for the team.
“We’ve got to look at it, embrace it, own it,” Davis said. “Guys don’t take it personal for whatever’s said in the film and then move on from it.”
The Lakers lost to the Sixers by a final score of 138-94. Los Angeles was outscored by Philadelphia in every quarter.
“You’re sitting there and watching film … it’s also in front of the entire team, the coaching staff,” Davis said. “I don’t think we have guys who probably will take it personal. But if they do, that’s probably another conversation.”
NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Anthony Davis, Los Angeles Lakers Updates
Davis finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds in 32 minutes against the Sixers. He had trouble stopping Joel Embiid, who put up 30 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists in 31 minutes.
The Lakers also had no one who could guard Tyrese Maxey, who scored 31 points in 36 minutes while dishing out eight assists.
“Feel like we just weren’t together,” Davis said. “A lot of quick shots, one-pass shots, no-pass shots. They started making a lot of shots. And when their lead kind of opened up a little bit — 15, 20, 25 — I think we all tried to be the hero to make the team come back instead of just sticking with it.”
The Lakers dropped to 10-8 on the season after losing to the Sixers. They are in eighth place in the Western Conference standings.
