A new NBA trade proposal would send Kyle Kuzma from the Washington Wizards to the Dallas Mavericks.
Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Wizards and Mavericks:
The Washington Wizards trade Kyle Kuzma to the Dallas Mavericks for Richaun Holmes, Maxi Kleber, Olivier Maxence-Prosper, a 2027 first-round pick (top-three protected) and a 2028 first-round pick swap
The Mavericks were interested in signing Kuzma this past offseason, but the swingman re-signed with the Wizards on a four-year, $90 million contract. Washington is off to a 2-14 start this season and Buckley believes Kuzma would be better suited to play for a winning team like Dallas.

“Dallas had eyes on Kuzma this offseason, and it could wind up seeing him as the final piece to complete its starting five,” Buckley wrote. “Journeyman Derrick Jones Jr. is the clear weak link in that group, and Kuzma would be an enormous upgrade. He could shine as a third scoring option, and he’s made big strides with his defense and distributing.”
The Mavericks could start Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, Grant Williams, Kuzma and Dereck Lively II if Dallas’ front office figured out a way to acquire Kuzma from Washington.
The 28-year-old Kuzma is averaging 22.9 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.6 assists this season while shooting 47.4% from the field, 36.8% from beyond the arc and 80.4% from the free-throw line. He helped the Los Angeles Lakers win the 2020 championship over the Miami Heat at the Walt Disney World bubble.
